Help, and how to reach us.
Filing.fyi is a small, mostly automated site run by Hootpods LLC. Most questions are answered below; for anything else, email us and expect a reply within a few business days.
Common questions
- Why does a page say "not yet scored", or show an older filing than the company's latest?
-
Two normal reasons. First, the SEC publishes a filing's text before it publishes the machine-readable financial data (XBRL) that the scores are computed from, often a day or more later; until that arrives there is nothing to score. Second, the site processes new filings on a schedule, so a page can lag a fresh filing by a while, and companies we do not refresh automatically wait until a reader asks.
While you wait, the page is still a good lesson: the filing timeline links straight to the new document on SEC.gov, so you can read the latest report yourself and compare it with the scores from the previous one. That is the exercise the site is built around.
- How do I refresh a page after a company files?
-
Sign in and use the refresh button in the banner at the top of the company page. A free account can request up to 5 refreshes a day; the ad-free plan raises that to 25. A refresh takes a few minutes to compute and the updated page is usually live within about half an hour; we email you when it is done. If the SEC has not published the filing's data yet, we retry over the next day and a half and tell you if there is still nothing new.
- How does the ad-free plan work, and how do I cancel?
-
The plan is $4 a month or $36 a year. It removes ads while you are signed in, raises your daily refresh limit from 5 to 25, and emails you when the analysis of a company on your watchlist changes or it files a major 8-K. It does not unlock any data; every page, score and filing is free for everyone.
To cancel, open your account page and choose Manage subscription, which opens Stripe's billing portal. Under the Terms, §10.4, cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period and the plan's benefits continue until then. Charges are non-refundable, including for a partly used billing period, except where required by law or at our discretion (Terms §10.7). Deleting your account cancels the subscription immediately, without a refund of the remaining period, so if you want the benefits until the period ends, cancel from the billing portal instead of deleting the account. If you believe you were billed in error, email billing@filing.fyi within 30 days of the charge.
- How do I delete my account?
-
From your account page, in the "Delete account" section. It removes your sign-in identity, watchlist, email settings and any subscription (canceled at once). Everything you could read before stays readable without an account. The privacy policy describes what is kept and for how long.
- Where does the data come from, and why are prices delayed?
-
Every financial figure comes from the company's own filings on the SEC's EDGAR system, pulled directly, not bought from a data vendor. The four scores are computed from those figures by published formulas; the write-ups are generated by an AI model from the filing text and the scores, and are not edited by a person. The methodology page covers each in detail.
Prices and basic market figures come from a free, delayed feed (at least 15 minutes behind, usually updated once a day after the close). They are there for context, so a lesson can relate a filing to a market value; they are not for trading. Use your broker for a current quote.
- Are the labels telling me what to do with a stock?
-
No. Deep Value, Fairly Valued, Watch and Red Flags describe what the filings show about a company's financial health and accounting quality. They are not signals to trade: Deep Value does not mean the shares are cheap, and Red Flags does not mean anything about what the price will do. We teach you how to read a company's filings; we don't tell you how to trade. That is between you and your financial advisor.
The site is automated and may contain errors or omissions. Use it at your own risk, treat it as a starting point for your own reading, and consult a licensed financial advisor before making any investment decision. Nothing on Filing.fyi is a recommendation. See the disclaimer.
- I found an error on a page.
-
Email hello@filing.fyi with the ticker, the URL and what you believe is correct. If the inputs from the filing are wrong we rerun the pipeline; if the write-up misread the filing we note the correction and adjust the prompt.
- Can you add a company?
-
Write to hello@filing.fyi with the ticker. We track requests but cannot promise a date; coverage is added company by company as the write-ups meet our quality bar.
