Affiliate Disclosure
Effective date: 2026-05-17.
This Affiliate Disclosure is provided by Hootpods LLC, the operator of Filing.fyi, in compliance with the United States Federal Trade Commission’s Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising (16 C.F.R. Part 255).
In one sentence
When you click an affiliate link on Filing.fyi and make a qualifying purchase, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you.
What is an “affiliate link”?
An affiliate link is a link to a third-party retailer that has been tagged with a unique identifier so that the retailer can attribute a sale back to us. When you click an affiliate link and the retailer credits us with the sale, the retailer pays us a percentage of the purchase price. The price you pay is the same as it would be if you had visited the retailer’s site directly — affiliate commissions come out of the retailer’s margin, not your wallet.
Where you’ll find affiliate links on Filing.fyi
- Book recommendations. Throughout the /learn concept lessons and on certain ticker pages, we recommend books that explain the forensic-accounting and investing concepts we use. These book links are almost always Amazon affiliate links.
- Concept lessons. Most lessons cite a primary reference work. Where a book is mentioned in a sidebar, footnote, or affiliate strip, that link is typically an affiliate link.
- Anywhere else. We will label any other affiliate relationship clearly and adjacent to the link, in line with FTC guidance.
We disclose at the point of the link (with a label such as “Affiliate link” or a small disclosure tag) whenever a link is an affiliate link, and we maintain this standing site-wide disclosure for completeness.
Affiliate programs we participate in
| Program | Operated by | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon Associates | Amazon.com Services LLC | Active |
“As an Amazon Associate, Filing.fyi earns from qualifying purchases.”
Our Amazon Associate account is held under the operator’s existing Hootrated Associates account. The tracking tag is loaded from environment configuration; it is not hard-coded in our site.
We do not currently participate in any brokerage, broker-dealer, financial-data-vendor, newsletter, course, or financial-services affiliate program. We will not promote a brokerage, fund, advisory service, or any financial product through an affiliate relationship. If that ever changes, this page will be updated and the link will be labeled.
We do not run an affiliate program of our own. Filing.fyi does not pay or accept payment for editorial coverage of any ticker.
How book recommendations are chosen
We recommend books because they explain the underlying concept well, not because the publisher or author paid us. No author, publisher, or seller has paid for or sponsored any recommendation on Filing.fyi. Whether a book is on Amazon is a separate question from whether it earns a place in a concept lesson.
If a book we’d otherwise recommend is not available through an affiliate channel, we still recommend it.
How we track clicks
When you click a book affiliate link, we record the click — book ID, the page you clicked from, a timestamp, and (if you are signed in) your user ID — so that we can measure which lessons drive interest and improve our editorial. We do not receive your name, address, payment information, or order details from Amazon. Amazon’s own privacy notice and tracking practices apply once you leave Filing.fyi.
See our Privacy Policy for more about what we collect.
What we will never do
- We will never disguise an affiliate link as a neutral citation.
- We will never insert an affiliate link into a verdict label, a forensic score, a numerical metric, or any place where a reader might mistake commercial intent for analytical intent.
- We will never accept payment to upgrade, downgrade, or otherwise alter a verdict label or forensic score.
- We will never accept payment to publish, suppress, or alter user-submitted comments.
- We will never sell or share your personal data with an affiliate partner.
If we ever encounter a circumstance not covered above, we will err on the side of disclosure.
A note about other revenue
Filing.fyi’s primary revenue is paid subscriptions, not affiliate commissions. Affiliate revenue is a small, optional supplement that helps offset hosting and tooling costs. We mention this only so you understand the incentives.
We may, in the future, introduce display advertising. If we do, ads will be clearly labeled and will be served by a reputable network with first-class privacy practices. Any change of this nature will be reflected here and in our Privacy Policy.
